iPod Video stops transferring during update

Just got a 30gb iPod Video yesterday. Plugged it into my laptop, created a playlist, and started the update. The playlist consisted of around 1100 songs.

What happens is it starts xferring and may get to between 300 and 700 songs and then just quits transferring the files. I can't cancel it, or eject the iPod. I have to unplug it and start over. I even let it sit overnight and it never finished. It stops at a different song each time, so I don't think it's encountering a corrupt file.

All my iPods prior to this have been firewire based, so this is my first time using an iPod over USB. Are USB based iPod transfers more flakey than firewire, or is there something wrong with mine?

Suggestions? Thanks!

I had this problem, too. Never figured out what the problem was. Hope it doesn't return (exchange fixed it).

Damn. I got the last white one they had at the Apple store in Southpoint yesterday. Maybe when I get back from my trip they'll have some more and I can exchange it.

The only way I'm able to use it is to let it xfer a couple hundred songs at once and cancel it before it craps out.

Brien - you said in another thread that you'd had the problem again on your new one. Is it still happening?

The genius at the Apple Store re-synced it on one of their computers, and it's working fine now.
