What if there was a way to play your iPod movies on a PSP? Can you imagine the screen of the PSP with the video capacity of the iPod? It's too bad the PSP doesn't have a video input. Of course, this would be too much to carry around, but it would be interesting to set up.

Oh well, I guess I'm stuck with the tiny iPod screen. I plan to watch a lot of videos on it during plane flights.

The PSP doesn't need a video input. It's got data inputs in the form of a USB port and MemoryStick slot. Already there is a 4gig drive that can be plugged into the MemoryStick slot (4 gigs apparently being the maximum that can be read through memory stick).

Personally, I hope it's only a matter of time before the Linux crowd figures out a way to give the PSP the ability to read data straight off a portable USB hard drive such as an iPod.

The PSP will never rival the iPod as a video player because it lacks the capacity of the iPod. Yeah, you can get up to 4GB if you want to spend $199 and have your PSP look like this, but that just makes the PSP even more huge than it already is.

It's too bad, really, since an integrated hard drive, or at least an add-on that didn't suck would make the PSP a much more viable video player. Of course it would still have the problem of Sony's intentional crippling of video playback so as to not threaten their UMD movie sales, and you'd still have to rename your movies something like "M4V10001.mp4" but it would at least be a contender. (And yes I do have a PSP, but I use it for games).

As for the idea of viewing iPod movies on the PSP, that would be just too awkward for words, even if it did work.
