I'd appreciate some help in figuring out what is going wrong with my ipod 30GB Video.

When I connect the ipod to my computer via USB the little lightening bolt picture flashes grey and green over the battery, but once the synching has compelted (less than a minute) the lightening bolt picture goes away. Keep in mind, that the ipod is NOT fully charged. In fact, the battery is almost completely used up and is in the red.

I left the ipod connected to my computer for eight hours last night and it seems like the ipod hasn't charged at all.

If the lightening bolt picture has gone away does that mean the ipod is no longer charging?

I transferred a couple thousands songs onto my ipod in under an hour, so I'm pretty sure I have a high powered line. What could be going wrong here? Why isn't it charging?

Thanks in advance

What computer do you have? Are you connecting the iPod directly to the computer or are you connecting it to a USB hub? A little more info would help people solve your problem. Basically, it sounds like you're not connecting to a powered USB port.

I have a PC running Windows 2000 and I don't know what a USB hub is so I'm guessing that I'm not using one.

The ipod recently charged for me...but it was only after it had frozen up and was actually in frozen mode when it was charging. I'm trying to charge it right now but it's not working...it seems like the only way I can get it to charge is to have it be frozen. So Frustrating!!!!

So, what do I do?

What happens if you just plug your iPod into your computer? Does the 'Do Not Disconnect' screen appear, and have the lightning bolt symbol in the top right-hand corner (flashing, hopefully)?

When you let your iPod sit idle while connected to your computer, and expect it to charge, do you leave your computer on and running, or do you put it to sleep and/or shut it down? I'm not an avid PC user, but it may help to know.
