I've been hearing of this feature where I can have my lyrics scroll why my song is playing on my ipod, so here's my question:

How do I view lyrics on my ipod?

I just got my ipod this past sunday and I want to make sure I enjoy it as much as possible.

Any help would be greatly GREATLY appreciated.

Best,

Well, first you need to get lyrics attached to your songs. This is done in iTunes. Select a song, press Command-I, and go to the lyrics tab. Now, you need to enter the lyrics or get them from a website. I like www.sing365.com, but there are others too. If you get them from a website, just select and copy, then paste them into iTunes. There are also automated ways to get lyrics for your songs. Try pearLyrics. After you've entered your lyrics, make sure you update the songs on your iPod. Now play one of the songs. To see the lyrics, press the iPod's select (center) button until the lyrics screen is displayed.

Note: I don't think the lyrics will automatically scroll as the song plays. On the nano, the lyrics screen will only be displayed for about 3 to 5 seconds unless you continually fiddle with the scroll wheel. On the 5G, the lyrics screen will stay there until you dismiss it.

Assuming you're on a Mac, try the program PearLyrics to automatically download lyrics for (many of) your songs.

does adding the lyrics to a majority of an itunes library take up significant more space?

No, it's just text after all.

I use pearLyrics personally, and I love it. The only minor annoyance I've found with it is the fact that it will often 'delay' the song via iTunes within the first few seconds of it when it searches and adds the lyrics to your song file. Minor, but noticeable.

Volcano,

That's a really awesome site you have there. I just got an ipod and have been trying to look for new music to play since i'm not in the know with music, but I have heard of Death Cab for Cutie and actually have some of their songs and by looking at the rest of your playlist, it seems you have great taste in music! Keep up the great work!
