Let's see...warranty? Check! Car charger and a means to play the thing in the car? Check! Dock? Check! Oh, and the Nano, too! Check!

I'd look for something to sleeve the Nano-they are reputed to scratch easily. Look for some sort of glove/sleeve/skin to protect it (there are some interesting clear silicone rubber skins that also make these slippery things easier to keep a hold of), and your shopping should be done!

I agree with Glenn about the case. All iPods pick up minor scratches during their lifetime, but the unit is designed so that they aren't all that obvious. But with the nano, people have been complaining about scratches across the screen that are very obvious. Make sure that whatever case you get gives access to the dock connection on the bottom of the nano, otherwise he'll have to take it out of the case to use it in the car!

A few other thoughts:
- Some people have very good success with FM transmitters in their cars, and others are not so fortunate. A lot depends on where the antenna is physically located in the car. People in urban areas with lots of FM stations also have trouble sometimes finding a clear station. The FM transmitter (the AirPlay 2) you have picked is a good one, but you might want to buy it from a store where you can return it without a penalty if it doesn't work well with your car.

- The Nano will come with a cable that connects the iPod to your Mac or PC for charging and to load new songs on.
The Dock is meant to provide a place to stand your iPod up so you can see the screen, and it also provides an audio connection to speakers or your home stereo. But all that comes in the box with the Nano Dock is the dock itself -- no charging cables! This means that you need to use your original iPod cable to connect the dock to your computer to use it.
If you were planning on using the dock to connect the iPod to your stereo system in a different room than your computer, please be aware that you'll only be able to charge it there if you buy a separate cable and power adaptor to go with the dock.

Glenn is spot on regarding a case. The best option, IMHO, is the crystal jacket from Power Support:

It's a very good case that let's the Nano's beauty shine through plus the case comes with protective film that will shield any exposed parts (click wheel, etc.) from scratches.

To dislike Sinatra is a sign of highly questionable taste. To dislike the Beatles is a serious character flaw.

We have their "Crystal Film" for my wife's nano. I didn't mention it as a case, because it really isn't one, it's just plastic that adheres to the front and back of the nano. She's only had the nano for a few days, we'll see how well it fares.

Hi emsmom, I have some information about the itrip fm transmitter for ipod nano. The introductory price for this accesory from Griffin is $49.99. I think I've seen this product on Nabit (affiliation with ebay) maybe you could try finding it that way, probably the cheapest way. Good luck!
