I've had my fifth gen. ipod for exactly a month today(got it for my sweet 16), and i plugged it in yesterday to charge. It was charging, then my sister turned off the computer. Thinking it was fine, I turned the computer back on and walked away. FOur hours later, I came back to check on it, and it wouldn't turn on. I had a battery with a lightening bolt symbol when I tried to reset it. My ipod isnt on hold, and it won reset. I read that sometimes it needs to be drained completely. I unplugged it and left it for about 24 hours now,and then plugged it back into my computer to charge. Its been plugged in for 2 hours, and still wont charge. It won't even turn on. I try to turn it on, and its a blank screen ...NOTHING HAPPENS. It's really starting to bug me! I wanted to update it and install the newest software but my computer doesnt even recognize that it's plugged in. I've never dropped it either...I'm starting to panic. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME

does this happen often?

That happened to me with my 4th gen iPod. It just refused to turn on. I charged it through an AC for over 12 hours and still it did nothing. I had already submitted a return request to Apple and was about to set it aside to wait for the mailer when I tried turning it on one more time...and it worked.

Try charging it overnight (with an AC adapter if possible), and then let it sit for a few hours. If THAT doesn't work, I think it's time to contact Apple.
