my friend has an iPod mini, i forgot how many GB it has, but it holds 1000 songs, and she wants to move her songs from iTunes on her one computer, to her new computer. but she wants to do it without re-downloading them (menaing from LimeWire) and i know that you can partition a part of the ipod to put data on it (like a ext. HD) can some one tell me how? (as you can see, i dont have an iPod)

thanks.

Once you enable disk use for your iPod through iTunes' preferences it will mount on the desktop.
As far as partitioning your iPod, I would strongly advise against this. While I cannot say with 100% certainty that this will screw up your 'Pod, I'm fairly sure it will. Feel free to treat it like any other removable drive insofar as copying files to it, but don't go crazy using Disk Utility to reformat, partition it, etc.
If anyone knows more about this, please post what you know.

To dislike Sinatra is a sign of highly questionable taste. To dislike the Beatles is a serious character flaw.

Whatever you do, don't reformat or partition your iPod.

Yes, you could enable disk mode and if she has enough space on the iPod that would work. But in this case, the better option is to use one of the many programs available that allow you to extract the data from your iPod. That way she can just copy the music from her iPod onto the new computer without worrying about worrying about this stuff (see the forum FAQ).
