Hi

I'm new to this forum :-), but I thought others may be interested in the "research" I've been doing into an "industry" that has grown up in Shenzhen, China. This involves the cloning and production of fake and imitation ipods, especially nanos and shuffles. There are dozens of companies involved in sometimes shameless copyright pilfering. I have produced a blog on the topic, FWIW. Is this a matter of concern for Apple, or has it such a stranglehold on the market that it will ride out copies and clones?

Question is how much they're selling.

Since they're not really able to undercut Apple's price point by much...

Other than that: Imitiation is the sincerest form of flattery, and copyright has been virtually unenforceable in China for decades. That is what happens when trade embargoes force an entire economy to copy and make themselves what they're not allowed to import.

One company, Maxspeed, is now online on ebay with a product which is pictured in one place as a nano, in another as the “nano two” model [see below]

..it even has an “Apple” number MA099LL/A etc, has 1, 1.5 and 2GB and takes expansion cards.
