I have recently received an ipod nano for christmas and i do not want it to get all scratched up which will ruin its sleek look. I have been doing lots of research on different cases and i have come across three that i like so far. I want a case that covers as much of the ipod as possible, it cant add a lot of bulk, and i would prefer a removable belt clip for when i workout.

Right now i am leaning towards this one the most but i am worried about the headphone clip on the back of the case to add bulk and feel funny while you hold it. I also like this one because it is clear and doesnt ruin the whole ipod look.

I like this case becuase it covers 99.9% of the ipod and has a removable belt clip as well. Im just worried that this case wont have as much protection becuase it is just soft silicone. Ive also read reports that these cases tend to attract a lot of dust and since the sides of the screen protector are angled they distort the corners of the screen.

This case is nice becuase it covers most of the nano, doesnt add any bulk, and looks pretty good but it has no belt clip.

If anybody has any of these cases and opinions would be greatly appreciated becuase i am really stuck on which case to get.

I am also wondering if anybody knows where to purchase this case which is very similar to the see-thru case but covers the entire bottom of the nano? After looking at the site it looks like the company is trying to find people to sell there product instead of selling it on there site but this case does look very nice.

Here is a link to a thread with the same topic, that is actively being used right now:

The capsule looks like it is the highest quality and most visually appealing case of the bunch, however you cannot charge your nano with the case on. Some may view this added protection as a bonus, while others will grudge at the thought of having to remove their nano from the case everytime it needs more juice.

The Contour Design iSee nano is a very nice case but does have a few issues. First off, it scratches almost as easily as the nano. I've treated mine very nicely but it has scratches all over the face. However, when the backlight is on, you really don't notice. A bigger issue is the problem with "wet spots". These can occur anywhere the nano and case come into contact with each other. Some users have none, some have them in the worst possible place: the display area. On the positive side, the iSee nano adds virtually no additional bulk to the nano and the belt clip works very well. The headphone clip is not an issue. If you're using the belt clip, you won't even notice it. And, of course, the nano also looks superb in the case.

As far as the iSkin Duo: it will bulk up the nano quite a bit, but it does offer a bit more protection than the iSee. However, it will pick up lint and such because of the material it's made of.

Another option is the Core Cases Alumimum case. I got one for Christmas and am using it right now. Another nice case for only $20. Check it out at corecases.com.

If you want detailed info about any of the cases, you're better off heading over to ilounge.com. All of these cases and many more have been reviewed there and there is a lot of discussion about them (they have forums dedicated solely to cases).

Thanks Butch for the help but how much will the iskin duo bulk up the nano becuase now im leaning more towards that case? I mean each layer of the case is only one milimeter so thats only adding two milimeters to the case and it couldnt be that bulky could it?

When you say wetspots for the isee case do you mean moisture gets into the case and fogs the screen up? Also, with the belt clip off will the heaphone clip get in the way and feel funny in the hand?

I have looked at the aluminium case and it did look nice but in the pictures ive seen it had an oval shaped cut out on the bottom center on the backside of the case which could allow the chrome part to get scratched.

If each layer of the iSkin is 1 millimeter, then the total increase would be 4 millimeters in each dimension. I think that's quite a bit. The other big complaint about the iSkin that I've seen deals with the screen protector. It's actually beveled on the edges, and this causes distortion of images and text near the edge of the screen.

The "wetspots" aren't actually water. They're just the result of an interaction between the iSee and nano surfaces. The spots do appear to be wet, hence the name. The headphone clip really doesn't stick out that much. I haven't seen any complaints about it, so I consider it a non-issue.

The cutout you're referring to is for attaching a lanyard. It's not really that big of a hole and it doesn't bother me one bit.

In the end, you need to decide based on how much protection you want and which features are most important to you. The iSkin offers great protection and did receive a very good rating from iLounge. But I just don't like the way they look and the belt clip sticks out way too far (a belt clip is essential for me). Plus, it's more expensive than the others. You really need to get over to iLounge.com and read the nano case reviews and peruse the forums. Their reviews are much more thorough than anything I've ever seen on MacNN.
