Hey all,
I'm planning on selling my year old 4G 40GB iPod (click wheel, B/W).
This is not a "do you want to buy my iPod" post - rather, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or tips on how to sell it, what to do with it when I sell it (formatting, etc), or anything of the sort.
Thanks.

There's not much to do, actually. Restore it using the iPod Updater, gather its accessories together and place them back in the original box if you still have it. Then off to eBay!

I sold mine locally on Craigslist for $200 because I'd lost the dock.

I was actually in the same boat as you are a week ago. I sold my 60gb iPod Photo (w/o dock, with merely the earphones, 3 skins, and usb cable + 30gb worth of music in the iPod) on eBay for roughly $250. If you don't mind paying eBay fees (I must've paid $15 overall), go for eBay. You get a bigger target audience. Or perhaps, just posting it in forums and see if anyone is interested.
If I were you, if you have good albums/songs in your iPod, I'd advertise selling the iPod how it is, and if the buyer doesn't want the song, they can format/delete it themselves. Oh, and cleaning the iPod cosmetically would help too.
Hope this helps.

Yep. That is the way to do it. Cram it full of songs and sell the iPod as illegal as possible.

I have a 40GB iPod Photo that's in near mint condition (still has the plastic cover on the click-wheel). Although I have all original accessories (dock, A/V cable, etc.) would I get THAT much for for it if I sold with these accessories vs. just selling the iPod & headphones itself?
(I'd like to keep the dock and cable for my iPod video)
