Healthy Charging Habits?

Greetings, I ordered my 5G 30GB iPod Video on 12/25/05 and recieved it probably at the start of this week. And well, I'm really satisfied with my iPod so far. However, as this was a big investment, I already went out and grabbed a decent case for it...but I was wondering what are good iPod charging habits?

This is my first Ipod and I've been told by several friends to simply charge it as much as you can. This seemed like a sort of bad idea to me, but as I've browsed numerous reviews and forums for charging habits there has been a decent amount of feedback saying that charging the iPod a lot isn't necessarily bad.

However, I have noticed that my battery meter exhibits some odd behavior at times, saying that I'm down to a 3/4 charge only after 1 hour of play. I haven't yet fully discharged my iPod since I've gotten it and I have read that it can help in battery meter calibration.

So, I'm just wondering...what are healthy charging habits for the iPod 5G? Should I run through a FULL battery cycle (discharging and then fully recharging?) and/if I do, should I always be charging, or make charges at certain points (ie: 1/4 charge left, 1/2 charge left, 3/4 charge left)?

Any and all feedback is appreciated!

I also get very random battery readings as well. I think the iPod judges its bettery meter on what you're doing, so when using video it gets a different reading, as opposed to using audio.

Discharging and Charging it fully, if done all the time, can be slightly worse for the battery than just doing whatever you want. Lithium-Ion batteries, the kind in your iPod, do not exhibit "memory", so you're fine there. Just use it, and when you find it convinient to charge it, do so.

You should be fine that way. It's what I've done for 8 months (after extensive research on the subject,) and my iPod is fine, as is the bettery life.
