Well, all I can say is I'm glad I had the good sense to get AppleCare.

My second iPod has failed after three weeks. Nice machines, but not very reliable as far as I can tell.

Apple will obviously replace it ... again, but that's not really the point.

I'm off on a trip this Summer (New Zealand hopefully), and what worries me, is having the iPod (or whateever music player I have) fail and be just dead weight for the whole trip.

I read somewhere that there was a music service where I could store all my tracks on line, but I can't remember the name of it.

Has anyone come across it?

The other alternative, is to take a very small laptop ...

unfortunately it comes with the territory of manufacturing huge quantities of electronics. my 3g is 2 years old and still running strong although it'll be time for a new battery soon.
