I have a bonus coming from work soon and I want to get an iPod Video badly. My dilema is that I have an eMac that only has USB 1.1. Are there any adapters that will allow me to transfer at a faster speed via firewire? I know it will only charge via firewire. I have over 25 gbs of music. That would take a lifetime to transfer with USB 1.1.
If I do get the new iPod and have to use USB 1.1 will it still have all of the functionality if I had USB 2.0?

Yes, don't worry, iPod works the same way, I had it with USB 1.1 until I got a PCI USB2 card, all worked fine, just the pain to transfer such amount of music via USB 1.1

There is no such thing. You cannot sync via FireWire (period). They did not build it with FireWire capabilities at all. I don't know if you can maybe upgrade your eMac to USB 2.0... might wanna look into that. Sorry dude.
Someone told me that you cannot charge via USB 1.1. But, they could be wrong.

as long as it's powered usb 1.1 (coming directly from computer, not out of keyboard usb ports) it should be able to charge no problem. once you get the music onto the ipod you're over the hump though, unless you're constantly adding gb of music.
the first transfer won't be fun, but after that it'll more than likely be only a few songs, or an album at a time right?

Exactly, the rear USB 1.1 ports from my Mac were able to charge the iPod with no issue.

That is probably the 2nd biggest mistake apple has ever made in terms of the iPod, I cannot believe they expect us to transfer big video files on crappy USB 2.0! They had better make a firewire verison soon!!
Oh and by the way, the first thing is the whole, stop-selling-the-iPod-mini thing, do you know how many girls bought them just because of the "cute" colors! In my opinion, they should have made those photo and increased the HD space, it porbably would have done a lot better than the nano in terms of sales.

Yeah, I'm sure with your millions of dollars worth of market research and years of experience, you've got it all figured out.
They wouldn't have made the moves if the market wouldn't support it. And with the runaway success of all things iPod (save for the shuffle, maybe), the market has definitely spoken.

Oh, so your saying you have enough market experience as you describe, or at least enough to predict something like that, I was stating my opinion, and you might not like it, but you are too.
