Your talking about cheating apple by messing up your ipod on purpose just to get it replaced. No its not ok. I relate something like that to insurance fraud. Dont do it. Its not right at all. You wouldnt call your insurance company and say your dead to get money. Why mess your iPod up just to get one with no scratches. My 3 month old 4th gen iPod was covered in scratches and it died yesterday. Just wait, youll have to send it in for some reason.
But if you do it, ill laugh my ass off if they just fix yours and send it back, scratches and all.

Which they do do, quite often.

That's not just a bad idea, it winds up cheating ALL Apple customers.
If you're so upset about the scratches, contact Apple and tell them about them. I believe Apple should LOOK for abuse and send back an abused iPod (postage due) when they find one. You shouldn't benefit from trying to cheat the system.

Just consider this an opportunity to think of something and decide NOT to do it. There's nothing wrong in thinking of a bad thing (far too many people mess up their own minds with that idea) as long as you identify it as bad and don't do it. You said yourself "i know its not right," so you already knew the answer. We just reinforced it.

If you care about scratches on your iPod, you need to get some type of case for it right out of the box. But once your iPod is scratched, I recommend this non-abrasive scratch reducer, PlastX.
