is it every time you click the next song button on the click wheel? maybe you have the clicker turned on - to turn it off, go to the iPod prefs, go to clicker, then turn it off.

no the wheel is off...it sounds more like an internal noise...its only when i switch songs i've noticed this...when songs are playing i dont seem to hear it or notice it (the JBL creature II's are great with an iPod)....but I really don't think it happens when songs are playing....anybody who has had this problem please let me know...I have the Applecare for it so I'm not worried but rather not go to this extreme....thanks

It really depends on how loud the click is. Most of the time, you can barely hear the hard drive accessing the songs you're trying to play right before it plays. Is it audible over the music?

The regular iPods have hard drives, and so it's perfectly normal to hear faint sounds of the drive motor when the drive is being accessed. Now, if it's really loud or always occurring, then you've got a problem. Otherwise, you're being a bit too concerned.
