hi, im trying to use the video feature of the ipod.
i have a bunch of mpg files, i have converted two to the MP4 ipod format.
i put them in my library with itunes.
but, they dont appear anywhere on my ipod when i try to view them.
you can view video files with the ipod right? im assuming so.
i even tried to add the files that i convered to the playlist called videos.
i read in the FAQ that since these are not ipod official or whatever video files, that i will have to make my own playlist and add these files to it. s
so i did that, i made my own playlist called stuff.
but, when i go to my ipod, i cant find my playlist called stuff, or any playlists other than, the music one called "on the go" and the music video and movie playlist. i cant see or find any other playlists.
so, how do i get the ipod to view my files?

i have a second question too, this is about the music files, and the file structure, or how to organize them.
i have two mp3 songs in the "computers iPod" main directory.
i created a new folder called files, which is now right under it.
i created two new playlists, playlist1, and playlist2.
but, i am unable to move, or transfer the two music files into my new folder, or any of my new playlists.
and my playlists do not appear on the ipod menu when i remove it from my computer.
all i see is the "on the go" playlist. nothing else.
i tried dragging the music file from itunes over my new playlist, but that didnt move it.
i tried right clicking the music file, and then pressing copy, but there is no paste option in my new playlist.
i have no idea how im supposed to move or add files to my playlist.
AARRRRGG.... sorry i had to get that out, but it has been very frustrating playing with my new ipod, it doesnt seem to do anything i want.
how do you move files around with itunes? how do you seperate your songs and put them into albums, or playlists? so far the two songs i have are just in the main directory and i cant move them around.

ok nevermind i figured it out
sorry for all the lengthy posts, but these things arnt explained anywhere.
for any new users that read this too, all you do is once you create your new playlist
you then have to drag the playlist over the "computers ipod" listing in the itunes listings.
then the ipod moves the playlist and the files over to your ipod.
what i dont understand is why does itunes have to keep duplicates of the files?
everytime i move a music file into the library, it creates a duplicate of that file in the itunes "library" folder, which i have to move, then delete from the library folder after.
why cant it just move the files to the ipod?

i hope you dont have auto update your ipod selected in prefrences. those are backup files. backup files. there a good thing. what if you loose the music on your ipod and than your screwed cause you deleted the files from itunes. just keep them in itunes and you should be fine. if your worried about space, get an external drive

no i disabled the automatic updating feature, and selected manual.
maybe that was the cause of my problems as i have to manualy move files into the ipod, but i think its better that way, since any of these music programs never sort my files properly, and since i get files from everywhere, they have all kinds of naming/tag formats on them so its best i sort it myself.
i just dont see why i have to move my file from my music folder, into the itunes folder, then move it over to the ipod folder, then delete the file from the itunes folder after, then of course empty my recycle bin.
even worse with video files, i have to convert them, then move them to the itunes folder, then move them to the ipod, then delete the itunes copy, and then delete the converted copy, and then empty the recycle bin.
its going to take along while to move all my files i want onto this thing.
oh well, im just enjoying having this mini video player, just wish it you could just drag your file from your pc into the ipod, and it converts, and stores it right away.
not all this moving and deleting.
