Here comes a difficult one:

I am about to buy a 5G for recording telephone conversations.

I looked into the possibility to just get a phone which allows me to directly record. Most phones restrict recording calls to up to 3 minutes, except an outdated Siemens which got the problem of being no quad band and without iSync to store the files on my mac.

Yesterday, I went to the local apple store and ask for advise. One of the more sound knowledgeable guys suggested to get a mic which just "kinda sticks" on the phone. He did not know what the right name for this mic was. I looked around on the web and found throat mikes, which might be what he meant. I also looked in to the range of what Firefox is making for hunters, painballers, etc.
Here are examples:

and
http://www.csonline.net/crawford/Fir...oat%20Mics.htm

Another gear I came across was a Wireless Phone Recording Controller.
http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...p;tab=features
This may just plug into the headphone/speaker jack of the mobile and extract the sound to the IPod.

All this stuff is not available in Europe and so it is hard to figure out compatibility issues, like hardware, sound rates, etc.

I do need this for thorough documentation of an art project I am working on.

Are there any other issues I did not consider?

Does anybody know how I can make this work?

Thanks!!!

I suggest you go to radio shack, get the extremely cheap phone to line in connector and buy another cheap digital/tape recorder.

Whole thing will prob be under $80.

make sure you let people know before recording their conversations. also say this call might be recorded to ensure quality service, tell them you are working hard to keep them happy, and that u analize the tapes to inprove your call center. Get an 800 number and a couple Tarot readers,

you will be rich.

your lucky numbers are binary.

It may be illegal to record the telephone conversation in your country.

He might need it for interviews and such and the person would be fully aware that is is being recorded.

Thanks for the advise.
I like multi purpose. So this ipod will be used for several other things.
The question remains:
what is the extremely cheap phone to line connector if not the Wireless Phone Recording Controller

There are no Radio Shacks over here. So before going through all the trouble to find means and ways to get the gear to europe, I would like to make sure that it works first.

look in my country you only need to ask permission to record if you are a Lawyer, as far as I know.

Thanks guys for all your concern about preserving peoples privacy - I presume the Big Brother on your side can't beat anybody.

Can anybody give me technical content advise?

where are you? and yes, unfortunately in the US big burgers, fake boobies and lawsuits come in and out day by day, you get used to it after a while, you gain some weight, go back to natural boobies and advice people not to record phone calls.

sorry man, i don't know what to tell you on the tech side, other than to google it.
