What size headphones are you looking for and what types of music do you listen to?
I have asked for help here before and the answer for me was the sennheiser hd 280 pros. It seems like you are looking for something else though.

i have the shure e2c's and love them! the bass is a little lacking, but that is easily remedied by turning on the "bass booster" equalizer setting. Very crisp and clear!
17" lo-res 1.67GHz alubook,
100gig 5400rpm hdd, 1gig ram, soon to be 1.5 when my funds are up to par.

go for the e3cs, ive the e3cs and tried the e2cs and compaired to the e3cs are nothing. the e4cs and e5c, not to much of a differance between the e3cs, very slight improvements, but not worth the money. if you want complete isolation, use the yellow ear pieces that come with it, compared to the other pieces the headphones come with, these deliver the best isolation. about the bass, these buds are somewhat more finakee about in-ear placement, just got to figure out what works best.

I've been using a pair of Sony MDR-7506 Studio Monitors for the past 8 years. I've used them for live audio, gaming, and with my ipod. Very nice, and comfortable too.
I gotta have more cowbell.
