i bought an ipod nano a few days ago (1 gig). i decided i wanted 2 gig, went back and exchanged it. my 2 gig is screwed, i think.

i was loading songs (i had used just over half the memory) and all of a sudden the songs on the ipod if i tested playing them (off the ipod) would play the first 15 seconds of the correct song (song A), then play something else random (song B) (but still say it was song A)

I restarted itunes, which did not fix the problem. next i disconnected the ipod, when i promptly got a weird battery symbol in the centre nad the ipod turned off and WOULD NOT turn back on, connect to the computer, etc.

i reset it (center button + menu) like the manuel suggests, and now it seems to be fine again.

was this a fluke accident, or should i go return the nano? i don't want a broken/messed up one, but it it possible it was something i did? note: i've been saving album art off the internet to put onto the ipod, and it has also been connected to my computer LONG past the charge (ie, over a day). could this be the problem?

and if the nano is screwed and i should exchange it... i am questioning if it is even worth getting another one. i've heard alot about problems with the battery life/other things, and i'm so frusterated right now i'm wondering if i should just quit on the ipod nano all together.

thanks guys!

Lauren,

I wouldn't worry about it at all. Nanos are very nice little machines. Just because you had to reset it once should not be cause for concern. I would only be concerned if you had to reset it often, and then I would recommend a restore before giving up on it. Also, don't be in such a haste to take it back. It's covered by a one-year warranty.

As for hearing about problems with battery life/other things, you can also find plenty of praise. Don't forget that people go to troubleshooting forums with problems. You don't often post in a troubleshooting forum that your new product is working great.

make sure you "eject" the nano from itunes (or the desktop) before unplugging it...

also, it's fine to leave it plugged in, it won't overcharge.
