i finally figured out how to rip dvd's to my computer. i then put them in ipod video format using both podner and isquint. After that they load fine into itunes but when i go to update my ipod they wont update. I can play the videos in itunes so i know that they work. Does anyone have any insight to why this would happen and how to fix it???

I agree about handbrake. It's much simpler than what you're doing. And further remember that just because something plays in iTunes doesn't not in any way mean that it will play on the iPod.

Did you get any error message while trying it?

Once the movie is in iTunes… get info and see what kind of video you see there at the pop up menu, 'Movie' is what you really want.
