Hello. I am a graduate student at the Munsell Color Science Laboratory at Rochester Institute of Technology. I am currently working on my thesis which involves two experiments. One of the experiments I am conducting over the internet and this is why I am reaching out to you now. I need your help in a few ways:

1) Please take my experiment (it's easy and fun!). You can just follow the link to read about it and then participate. The good news for you is that it only takes 2-3 minutes to do and by completing it, you will automatically be entered into a drawing to win a free iPod!

2) Take the experiment again! Yes, you are encouraged to take the experiment as many times as you want (it will be different each time). Every time you complete it, you'll get another entry in the drawing for the iPod. Since it takes so little time to participate, you can do it once or twice every time you are at your computer!

3) Tell everyone you know about it! If you can forward this message (or just the link) to as many people as possible and ask them to participate, that would be appreciated. Be sure to tell them they might win an iPod and that it will only take a few minutes of their time.

4) Finally, when you forward this message, please encourage your family/friends to also forward this message to everyone that they know!

To reach the experiment, please go to this link:

Thanks so much for helping me out. Please let me know if you have any questions.

I read the forum rules and there was nothing that stated that I could not announce a contest to win a free iPod in an iPod forum. I felt there would be interest and that it is not off-topic for the forum.

Your post is SPAM. It may be for educational reasons, but it is still SPAM.

Typically the replies would be a lot harsher than what myself and Stradlater have posted, as I think we know that the motive behind the posting is more educational in nature. However it would be courteous to ask the admins of the board for their approval before soliciting the members for information.

EDIT: Just you replying is an indication that you are more honourable than the hit and run SPAMMERS that invade this board

Thank you for your comments. I did not intend to generate spam or offend anyone on these lists. I hate spam as much as anyone and I understand your responses. I will take your suggestions and send a message to the administrators. Once again, I apologize for any inconvenience.

Tooki and Demonhood would be two places to start as they are two of the more active admins on the board.
