i have itunes at home (on a mac) and at another location (on a pc) - simple enough, but my library is at home and i have limited tracks at the other venue. but when i plug in the ipod the alternate itunes wants to make it the default "home". my question is am i able to change this to act only as a secondary "hub" as it were, i cant seem to find anything in the pref's to do this.

I think you'd have to format the iPod on Windows and set it to manually update (that means that you have to manually add songs to it, like dragging files to a disk). Then you should be able to use it on both machines, but it does mean giving up some functionality, like auto-updating of playlists, etc.

If he's having the "other" computer try totake over, the iPod may already be formatted for Windows. This lets you sync the iPod with either a Mac or a PC. The downside is that if it's formatted for Windows, that's the platform you MUST use to install iPod updates with.

Anyway, if you just set iTunes on the PC to manually (and NOT automatically) sync the iPod, the problem goes away. To add the songs from the PC to the iPod you just move them manually.
