Jason Parry was right. The 8GB Seagate Drive does work and currently is in two of our Mini recreation projects. No problem at all. It doesn't matter which generation motherboard you have because both 1st and 2nd generation Apple Mini iPods motherboards are up to 9GB. Currently one is for sale on eBay under bobnlee2k. The Seagate Drive is about $140 at Outpost.com, so the price of the new Mini is more than the Nano, but the efforts are worth it because the new drives hold more. Seagate specs say up to 4000 songs on the 8GB, but it depends upon the size of the songs.
