On my iPod I have a ripped CD where the last track has about 30+ minutes of dead air after the song before a "hidden" or "bonus" track. I'd like to separate this track into two songs so 1) they play in less time than 38 minutes and 2) it takes up less space. How?

Should this be posted in "Applications?"

Before you rip the CD, select the track and choose "Get Info." In the "Options" tab, there are fields to edit the start and stop times for the song. Edit the stop time so that the track ends just after the main song, and then rip the track. iTunes will only rip it up to the new stop time.

Then edit the start and stop times again so that you capture the hidden song, and have iTunes re-rip the track.

Garageband can also cut out unwanted parts. Just drag the file into the edit window and put the playhead where you want to cut the track. Then select Edit>Split Track at Playhead. Deselect the track and then reselect the section you want cut. Press Delete, then File>Export to iTunes.

Thanks for the help. I've been in a lot of classes at work and haven't had a lot of time to catch up on my reading, so sorry I hadn't replied until now.
