The new SanDisk MP3 player is a joke as is the name and their Ad's.

http://www.idont.com/

I can't believe how bad their site is and how bad their Ad campaign sucks!!

If this is the best they can do, then Apple has nothing to worry about.

I actually got a couple chuckles out of the site...trying so hard to be the hip alternative. I especially got a kick out of their link to a CNET review of their player...it got an 8.0. I made sure I sent them the link to CNET's review of the iPod Nano...which received an 8.3

I got a laugh out of the review as well. I don't know about the whole "alternative" advertising campaign. The whole sheep and puppets thing is just a little out of control. Not to mention the ads themselves are horribly designed, as well as the site.

It isn't a bad product, it's just not as good as what Apple makes.

I had seen this player at another forum, but OMG, the site is hilarious! Now they are making Apple the evil one, because it happens to produce a good product which the majority likes for different reasons, and that is bad? I'd rather have Apple have a monopoly than Microsoft, we all know what happens then I think...

That site looks like something I would've created my freshman year in high school in my Web Design class.

Besides, it's a bad angle to come from. If they're trying to convince the iPod crowd to come over from the "dark side," isn't it generally a bad idea to insult them and call them all "sheep" in the first place? To me, it's saying that I'm an idiot for buying an iPod in the first place - yet they're trying to get me to purchase their iPod wannabe. It doesn't work.

It's SUPPOSED to look "gritty" and "rebellious." That's the point.

And I don't think ANYONE should take ANY ad personally-but apparently some people do. It kind of makes SanDisk's point when they do...

Ok, what I don't understand here is why people would want to rebell. iPods function well, and they do what we want them to do. If they didn't do what we wanted them to do, we wouldn't all be using them. It's like clothes. I wear clothes, you wear clothes, it's a given. We can assume that everybody's gonna agree that clothes are good and move on to more important things. I don't see any rebellious websites advertising against wearing clothes.

Except for those of nudist colonies, of course.

Well, some people get off to being different. What about goths? Not wearing huge makeup and piercing your entire body works fine, but for some reason they have to. And ricers? Your 4 cylinder car's stock exhaust system and red taillights work wonderfully, but with a $15 ebay muffler and chrome taillights, you're DIFFERENT.
The problem with people trying to be difference for the sake of being different is that they end up being the same as everyone else trying to be different.

I think what Sandisk and others are really trying to accomplish is to break the control Apple has on online music pricing. I have a feeling there is a collusion with the recording industry. The record companies are desparate to charge more than 99 cents for songs but Apple wont let them. If they can convince people ipods aren't cool anymore that will lead people away from itunes and therefore break that control. That will happen eventually, and we'll start seeing $2.99 for a hit song. I hate to say it, but this is actually a clever campaign. I doubt many will connect the price of music with the type of player they have. Ah well, competition is a good thing right? If a good player turns up to rival the ipod that forces Apple to respond with hopefully a better one.

If this ad campaign influences anyone to purchase a Sandisk Sansa over an iPod, they deserve exactly what they get.

Wow, the anger! This ad just pokes a little fun at people who use ipods, its not a personal insult. Have a sense of humor for crying out loud.

Still, the whole idea of insulting the people you're trying to win over has never worked very well. Remember Apple's "Lemmings" commercial? I find it ironic that now Apple is being painted as the monopoly.

it's funny, blaming the carrier (the ipod) instead of the music (the content).

the music u listen to, the movies u watch on, say, a sony tv...these things define us, not the tools.

sandisk's idea is just funny, but inconsequential.
let them have their fun (as i switch on my nano and listen the THE MUSIC that defines me...)!

It really is funny...but not in the way they meant.

Such sentiments actually ring true to me when it comes to corporations, originality, and conformity--but not when it's another corporation pitching the nonconformist argument as a f***ing sales pitch! Give me a break.

We all know that in a corporate cool-off, Apple wins over any other player in this industry...or in just about any other, for that matter.

It's funny that they never learn it doesn't work, it's even funnier that they hate the ipod so much and want to break free from it's looks, when it looks as much as the ipod as legally possible.

Sandisk makes me sick, there are so many things wrong with that site it's not even funny and in the end the sandisk player looks almost exactly like an ipod.
