I have a friend that has an iPOD Photo (60GB) and it seems that it doesn't see the music and the data anymore. I was only able to see the contacts a minute ago, but now not even those are available anymore.
I mean that the iPOD seem to work ok (the software runs fine) but it doesn't display the data on it, it acts as if it would be empty with no music or pictures or podcasts on it.
When I connect the iPOD to my powerbook it displays the music (the powerbook displays it, not the iPOD).

What can I do?

Thank you

You can also just run the updater and NOT have it "restore" the iPod. That should repair anything wrong with the iPod's firmware without touching the music.

I can't run the updater. It doesn't allow me to click on it, only on the restore.

If only the automagic caps correction could fix people complaining about their "iPOD" or "I-POD."

This is why it is never a good idea to erase your music from your iTunes library and rely completely on your iPod. It is well worth having that ready-made back-up in case something goes wrong with your iPod. Anyway, there are very few actual troublshooting steps one can take with an iPod. Have you tried resetting it? That's different from restoring. "Restore" is a complete wipe. "Reset" shouldn't erase anything. I only have a Shuffle, so I'm not 100% sure how to do it on a full-sized iPod, but it should be in the manual, or on Apple's support website.
