I have a picture of a charger and an outlet on my screen how do i get rid of it plugging it in doesn't work i cant listen to music and i cant see anything else

Simple:

Plug it into a power outlet with a charger.

Are you plugging it into the computer or into a charger?

Which charger?

Are you sure the power supply is okay?

Which generation of iPod are you talking about?

it was my cousins i think it is a 4th generation i have no charger right now but she plugged it into the wall i believe

That picture definitely means "plug into the wall outlet." Some computers don't provide enough power to properly charge an iPod, and the 4th gens (in my experience) want more juice when they're low than when you're just topping off the battery.

If a wall charger doesn't fix the problem, try different outlets. In older buildings I've found "poor" wiring to cause noticably low voltage levels at outlets.

as they said, a restore has been done to the ipod, and it is asking for it to be plugged into a wall adapter, so the firmware can be flashed
