Hey guy's I'm new here. I searched for the answer to my question, but I couldn't find it.

Ok, My little brothers 2nd gen Ipod mini (4gb) version bit the dust. He said it just wouldn't power on. I had him ship it out to me because I figured his battery was dead. He had been complaining about it powering down too fast. I have the thing taken apart on my desk and I installed the new battery, charged it and to no avail it is still dead. (when I charged it through the USB cord the battery got warm so I take it that it was getting some power)

So I called him back and said. "Drew did you drop this in water, or anything dumb like that" He pauses and says he hooked it up to a more powerful AC charger....the screen flashed a bunch it powered off then it wouldn't turn on.

Well guys what do I need to get to make this little guy work? I'm thinking everything is fried. I mean it won't power on at all, but it will charge the battery I think. Should I replace the main board/HD/screen and go from there?

EDIT: From my little brother. I asked him EXACTLY what he did and this is what I got.

"i used a dynex usb router i grabbed the wrong ac adaptor the voltage was too high when i plugged the ipod in the screen started blinking then the ipod showed me the battery dead sign and after that it wouldnt turn on again"

Yeah he bought a new one a while ago. He just wanted to see if I could figure this one out. Once I heard he ran all that power into it I had a feeling it was toast. Is there anything I could use out of it to make a working one? I see busted ones on E-bay all the time.
