Is there any 3rd party alarm I can use? The built in one would never wake me up.

Probably not, but you could use the built in one at FULL volume and that might help. My son had problems with alarms until he hooked his iPod up to a set of external speakers with the volume turned up. We ALL woke up for that!

The only thing I could suggest is an external speaker. If you are using it to wake up in the morning they have an iPod pillow with a speaker in it (the whole iPod goes right inside the pillow and it gets pretty loud or...I got a very loud very high quality speaker case from compusa and it was only 14 dollars. Then again you could always spring for the JBL OnTime...or not.
