Anyone have any past or current experiences with cases for this particular thing. Or any recommendations?

I currently have a iPod nano.

Something tells me that this is not a particularly good idea.

Same here, which is why I plan too buy a shuffle. But.... there have been many articles on this, and they do seem to work. I just want personal opinions on certain products, rather than a magazine.

There is a guy in my neighbourhood who swims with one of these with his mini. He says it works well for keeping water out.

i once jumped into a pool...only to realize 10 min later that i had my shuffle still in my pocket. so i jumped out the pool, stuck the shuffle into some purified water, let the sucker dry out in the sun for a day or two and it works fine now. not too shabby.

I've seen lily pods for sale in Borders. They are supposed to be waterproof cases for iPods for swimming and other water sports. I've never tried them.

Let me just be sure that I understand what we're talking about. You want to actually swim while listening to the iPod? Even if you had a waterproof case, you'd still need some sort of special earphones, wouldn't you?

I believe that some of them come with waterproof headphones ( not sure which ones).
