Hello all - I just purchased my 1st iPod.
My question is: If I import music from a CD to my hard drive - and then update it onto my Ipod....once its on my Ipod - can I delete the music from my hard drive without it being deleted from my Ipod upon the next update?

If you set the iPod to "manually update" then you can do this, but it's really not a very good idea, since if your iPod has any problems (or if you lose it) you will also lose all of your music.

If your iPod has any sort of hiccup or technical problem (and if it's hooked up to a Windows machine, chances are very high that Windows WILL cause some hiccup eventually), the first step in troubleshooting is ALWAYS to reset the iPod using the latest factory software (downloaded from Apple.com).

That will completely erase and reset the iPod.
