Here's just a few guesses and wishes based on the following recent rumors:
1) the next gen ipod will have an Nvidia chip
2) Apple will intro a movie download service
3) In combination with the movie download service apple will intro a real vPod
4) Also in combo Apple will introduce a video Airport Express
5) video iPod will have some form of wireless streaming to compete with the MS Zune

My speculation:
1) The video Airport Express will be able to show you the Front Row interface on your TV so you can watch videos, listen to music etc streaming from your computer. There will be a remote for the Airport Express.
2) The video iPod will use the Front Row interface (using the 3D graphics of the Nvidia chip) to make it consistent with the video Airport Express.
3) The video iPod will be able to stream to the Airport express and function as a remote for the airport express.

Feel free to mock me.

Mock you? I fall before your brilliance! I think this would be such a great seller, and a smart move for Apple

sounds rather logical... Apple just needs to make it now.

...that being said, Apple is going to get burned if they don't offer higher resolution downloads of movies... but if they make it too high, it isn't going to stream well... and it couldn't do HD.

I would expect all of those soon, except the NVIDIA graphics.

I proposed something similar a while ago--I was thinking that if Apple was to come out with a vPod+wifi, then it could possibly connect to an Airport Express and stream the audio and video there, or show the video on the vPod and send only the audio to the Airport. Of course, in the former scenario they would have to release a new Airport Express model.

How else would you operate the Front Row interface on your TV when you Mac is in the other room? You would essentially have to forward the Front Row interface from the Mac to the Airport Express to make this work. Maybe it's not even possible or Apple will want you to buy a full-blown Mac mini as a media center.
