I won an iPod Mini from the iTunes promotion that Pepsi did last year. I'm having trouble knowing what generation it is and etc. I wouldn't care so much but when I go to buy accessories some stuff works with this model and not with this other one and so on.

I know it is a 6G Mini and that's about it. I also know they don't make them anymore either.

I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on this for me.

Thanks.

The 6Gb model is a 2nd generation mini and was made up until last October when it was replaced by the iPod nano. All mini accesories work with any mini, no matter what generation.

No.

The original iPod will NOT charge via USB, so any USB power supplies/auto adapters/etc. will not work.

However, all mini accessories will work with labonte's iPod (later ones can charge via both Firewire and USB.

Focus is the Mini, analogika, and I believe it always charged from USB.

Anyway, labonte2000, I have two items for your consideration (beyond welcoming you to the MacNN Forums): First, your thread title is not good because it doesn't say WHAT the question you have is-and we have a rule here (see the general rules posted at the top of EVERY forum) that requires titles to be descriptive and informative.

Second, that set of periods at the end of the title. It's not an elipsis (which is only three periods) and it's the kind of fluff in a title that bothers some folks. Check the rules: those sorts of things are banned too. I got chided last week for putting "Please" at the end of a thread title-we really do try to keep things orderly so everyone can enjoy our forums as much as possible, and moderators have to follow the rules too!
