I have a ton of songs on my PC / iTunes. I also have a ton of album art on the PC. Question: Can I somehow easily get the album art on the PC iTunes over to my MacBook / get the art associated with the albums there???

iTunes stores album art as part of the song's ID3 tags WITHIN the song file.

So if you transfer songs...the art comes with??? I think that may happen if the songs are purchased tunes...but what about songs you rip / get art from amazon.com???

The art is stored AS PART OF THE FILE.

Move the file, the art moves with it. It's IN THE SONG.
