My iPod mini refuses to play without a massage. Let me explain. When I am listening to music, my iPod will work for a second or two but then I will hear a very loud, annoying crackling sound and the music stops. I then have to put it on hold and massage the clickwheel until it starts playing clearly again.

Anyone have an idea what is causing this? Should I start charging for these special massages? I was thinking that my iPod is telling me that it needs to be replaced. Is there any hope for my beloved ipod mini?

It's toast. That's obviously some internal, electronic fault-contact Apple about what they can do for you.
