jlvillar, please stop using such large text. EVERYONE here uses the standard size, so as you can probably tell from analogika's response, your post looks like you're shouting.
And he's right-your AC adaptor is probably broken-or the outlet you plug it into has failed somehow. If you can get it to charge by USB, then the cable and the iPod are fine-all that's left is the adaptor.

Truly bizarre. If you're using the same dock cable with your computer and with the other charging devices there's something fishy going on. If not, it's the cable(s).

Wow, you must not be very intuitive...
If you know you're iPod will charge, for a fact-- wouldn't you think it could maybe be the A/C adapter?

It may be more to it than just a faulty AC adapter. I just bought a no-name AC-to-USB adapter and use the original ipod USB cable. It charges my Nano just fine, but my 5G Ipod Video 30GB won't charge from this adapter. It charges fine from a USB port and from my car charger. Are there any known differences/problem between charging a 5G vs a Nano?

There have been many reports of iPods not charging from powered hubs when those hubs are not connected to a running computer. This would seem to indicate that they want a REAL USB connection, not just +5Vdc on the right pins. I think this may be the issue here.
If the iPod charges from a computer's USB port but does not from an AC charger, then the AC charger probably isn't pretending to be a "real" USB port. As long as you're using THE SAME CABLE between the computer and the iPod that you use with the AC charger, that's all it can be. As for the iTrip, it "should" work, but it is possible for two things to go bad at roughly the same time. Make sure you have the iTrip fully plugged into the iPod and check again.

Yes, you are right, kind of. The AC adapter I had was only capable of delivering 400mA, which is below the USB spec, which I believe is 500mA. I exchanged it for one that delivers 600mA and it works fine.
Conclusion: Ipod Nano charges fine at 400mA, but 5G Video requires 500 or 600mA to charge.
