but, has anybody heard any rumors yet for what apple has in store or could be working on?

well um .. no official source I guess, it just has been rumored a lot + some Apple patents surfaced of what looked like an iPod with touch screen interface and a finger detector that activates the screen whenever it gets near it . i'm pretty sure too this is all true, guess we'll have to wait and see ...

Last I heard, they're supposed to be coming in November. Forget if it was Think Secret or AppleInsider that said it (I think TS), but nobody seemed to notice it amidst all the WWDC anticipation.

Not this year. Stay tuned to Think Secret and iPod Hub. Stay away from Apple Insider. They got the specs for MacBook and Mac Pro wrong even though they claim sources close to Apple. They are the internet hype masters.

Rumors are fine, as long as they're iPod rumors and kept to something like reality.
Some rumors are so far out as to be unacceptable, like one I saw that said the next iPod would also be a quad-band cell phone with a kick-butt browser too. Naaaaa. Apple may eventually create a phone, but they haven't shown any trend in "convergence" toys products, so if they do, I think it'll be a separate device.

How old is that patent? I remember hearing about it quite a while ago... And still no touchscreen iPod... Maybe they're just waiting for "the right time" to release it.

I believe it was about 4 months ago. I've also heard that they ran into problems with the touch screen and they had to delay the realease until late this year. I hope it is out before Zune.
