hi there, i'll not to bore you,
but i recently purchased a 30gb ipod off sum1 who said that it had a battery problem. they plugged it into to the wall adaptor and off it went, played songs and videos with great sound.

then i took it home and figured i can atleast put my new songs on it and use it as a hard drive in the mean time. to my horror... the computer doesnt recognise it! when plugged in the battery comes up in the middle of the screen with the lightning bolt on it, but the battery deosnt show the animated filling up sequence (the one that all ipods do)

i have no receipt, but ipod videos havnt been out that long in the uk so it may still be under warranty. also the idiot hass opened it up!

pls help me... tell me i havnt wasted my moneyv

Have you installed the iPod Software yet?, you are going to need it to get the iPod recognized by the computer.

i already own an ipod mini, and my sister has the 60gb video ipod, tehy all work fine with i tunes.

the trouble with this is that it doesnt even turn on when connected to the computer, as if it doesnt get enough power to do so. the only way it seems to get enough power to switch on and functionally normally is when connected to the mains.

im not technical but does the mains supply more juice thatn the usb?

As long as you plug the iPod's USB cable into any one of your Mac's high-powered USB ports (the ports on the computer itself), it would be fine. Do not use the USB ports on your keyboard to charge, as those are low-powered ports.

I think this technical note could be interesting to read:
