Has anybody used one of these? I saw one at Staples. You plug it into the bottom of your iPod, pop a 9V battery into it and you have an additional 8 hours. I'm thinking about buying one because my Golf has a different adapter then other cars (*sigh* Germans do things so differently). Anyways, I was just wondering if it's worth the 20 bucks. Does it actually give you a descent amount of play time?

I've got the Griffin Tunejuice, and it doesn't charge the iPod (as specified). It merely "acts" like a extra battery.
And it won't work if your iPod's battery is too low.
I've got a 30GB iPod (5th gen) if that helps.

$25 CAD for a battery pack that looks good and doesn't require a firewire iPod cable seems like a descent price to me. I could never make my own, I hate soldering and all that. I'm just wondering how well it works.
I don't really care if it doesn't charge it. I'm going on a 12 hour roadtrip with a friend and my car only takes cassette and AUX in. So the iPod is definitely the way to go, but I can't use a car charger because of the German adapter in my car. I just need something that will extend the life of my battery at least until I arrive at my destination.

I've seen some battery packs that can power different types of USB devices (eg; PSP, mobile phones, etc). All you need is a USB connector to your device (in this case, your iPod).
Maybe you can look around in Radioshack or something? Sorry, don't know what sort of electronics-hobby stores you guys have over there - I'm from Singapore.

Haha, I appreciate the suggestion. But I already found the device. I'm simply wanting to know how well it works and if it's worth the money to buy it.
