i dunno, this might be some kind of VIRUS but i doubt it. i mean, someone ether put an infected song into itunes, or you downloaded something and it went to your ipod. oh well. have fun with this one and let us all know what happens

The most resent thing i downloaded was FileXaminer and some photos of the planets from Google
Could that where this came from. Also before my 5G started to act up i had my old iBook in target disk mode and restarted my MacBook while the iBook was attached. Could that be a problum?
Tomaro i will go to the local apple store to see what they say.

Use the iPod Updater to RESTORE your iPod and see what happens. You'll have to reload all your content, but the Updater should fix any software problems you're having.
And for what it's worth, I doubt you have a virus. It sounds like the thing has just messed up its firmware, which happens from time to time. Just restore it and you should be fine.

You did use protection didn't you? Never leave 2 iPods alone, even for a minute.

Ive resored it 2 times and it doesn't help. iTunes still can't read/write on the iPod.
(P.S. Im taking about the 5G iPod)

Format your iPod as HFS and then restore it. My Nano goes black and white if I format it, most likely because formatting it erases the software. Restoring always brings it back. If it still doesn't work, take it to an Apple store, I reckon your hdd is failing or has failed.

This sounds very much like "trip to the Genius Bar" material to me. C.A.T.S, that's just plain ODD!
