Does anyone know when the new iPods will be in the Apple Stores. I was going to buy one online but I think I will wait for the stores. I was waiting for the rumored touch screen ipod but after 10 months of rumors, I have given up.

It says they are available now. I would call your local store and see if they have them in stock before you go.

Hrmm, I called the Tysons Corner, VA store and they said they were not in stock, and said I should check in later this week or early next week.

Interesting that a store in Boulder has them though. I guess maybe it is just taking a few extra days to make it out to the East Coast, which make sense.

Went to the Bellevue Square (Bellevue, WA) Apple Store this morning. The cashier told me the stock was in the backroom and doing the prep. work. Waited for an hour there and using the nice 24-inch iMac, saw several shoppers gathered around the check out stand. I asked the cashier about the updated 30GB iPod and he told me the store didn't get the iPod shipment, but the new iPod nano was available.

I shall call them up tomorrow afternoon and see.

FYI, the Bellevue Square store now has both 30GB and 80GB models in stock. I grabbed the black 30GB.

Brighter screen, ability to play games, search functionality, signicantly improved battery life while playing videos, and an upgrade to 80GB in the larger model (along with $50 price drops for both models) - the games and I think some of the search functionality can also be added to the previous 5G iPod videos.

What I don't understand is why Amazon isn't getting the new iPods until the 20th. Every other online store I've seen already has them in stock. If I didn't have an Amazon gift certificate I would have canceled my order already.
