Reverse sync. Connect your iPod to any authorized computer — iTunes lets you authorize up to five — and you can sync everything you purchased from the iTunes Store back to it.

What about the music that wasn't purchased from the iTunes music store? I have tons of cd's i've burned and i would like to get that music onto my other computers. Does the reverse sync transfer this as well, or just stuff purchased from the iTunes music store?

I think it is just stuff from the iTunes store since the menu option is File > Transfer Purchases from iPod.

I guess this way they know the files are actually yours since you bought them and it's to and from your authorized computers.

If it was any music then you could grab music off your friend's mac and put it onto yours. Which you could just do with a bunch of dvds or an external harddrive, or the iPod's target disk mode.
