I can only assume that the older Macs that only have USB 1.1 on them will still work with the 2nd generation iPod shuffle. Anybody know or seen anything? Apple's tech specs don't specifically mention anything like the last version did.

I'm sure it just said USB, rather than USB 2 so maybe 1.1 will be OK?

Yes. Apple site says:

Mac system requirements
Macintosh computer with USB port
Mac OS X v10.3.9 and later
iTunes 7 or later(3)
Windows system requirements
PC with USB port
Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4 or later or Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 2 or later
iTunes 7 or later(3)

Whereas on the nano page it says USB 2.0

I suspect that the difference in posted requirements is probably to try to limit the number of USB 1.1 users who would buy a Nano and then complain about how slowly it syncs.

Of course it will work. ALL USB devices work on all USB ports. The difference is just speed.

It's my impression that USB 2.0 includes USB 1.1 compatibility in the standard. I'd say that chabig is 100% right.

I recently spoke to an Apple representative who told me the Nano support "high power" USB 1.1 ports.
Linkinus is king.
