The newest iPods are advertised at 50% longer battery life than the earlier version. Does anyone know how they did it? More efficient components or a bigger battery? Are there any bigger batteries available for the first 5G iPods. Mine's quite new, but it would sure be great to get 50% more battery life.

It's not 50% more battery life, it's 50% more battery life for viewing videos.

Playing music will get you the same 14 and 20 hour playback times as advertised on the last series of iPods.

I also highly doubt the 80 GB is a single platter drive. If it was, they'd have been able to fit way more than 50% increase in battery life in the same size enclosure.
