I know, since they dropped the prices by $50. If only there's an 80GB version, I would buy one in a heartbeat.

The refurb prices are pretty amazing, also. I started looking at 2 GB nano refurb for $99, surely that really affordable--but then I noticed I could get a 4 GB mini refurb for the same price. Double the space. Wow, but I could get a 6 GB mini for $129, only $30 more. Of course, not as small or as durable, what with flash being more durable than a fragile HD. Ah, but it's more space.
Once I started considering the HD rather than the flash, you know they have the refurb 30 GB for $179, only $50 more than the 6 GB mini, but wow now I've got way more space. But is 30 GB really enough space? 'Cause for only $50 more, I could double the HD space, it's only $229 for a 60 GB video refurb...
So, in a short flight of fancy, I went from $99 to $229.
At that point I remembered that I was saving up for a Macbook, hopefully in about 3 months, when they get upgraded at MacWorld SF.
But it sure is funny what your imagination can do to your wallet.

Yeah, I've had similar things happen to me. It's a testament to how well thought out Apple's price points are.

That's not an iPod 5G. It's an iPod photo.
Anyways, I just ordered a 30 GB 5G refurb from Apple. Nice prices.

Greetings,
Regarding the deal on a factory refurb 60GB 4G iPod Photo from SmallDog......
Given that there's the new 5.5G iPods out now, does it make any sense anymore to get a 4G model...understand the obvious differences in thickness, FW connection, photo vs video capability issues....
Would everyone spend a few more bucks and just go for the newer models or would you consider saving some $$ and getting a 4G?
Thanks for any thoughts...
Mark

I'd definitely recommend the 5G over the 4G unless you're talking a really huge difference in price.

I still have a 4G :-(
Does anyone else? Or has everyone upgraded to the sweet 5.5Gs?

Well, acidpants, if it's any consolation, I received a new 60GB iPod Photo yesterday...
Decided to go with that one now as I'm probably going to get it iModded by RedWineAudio due to all the rave reviews I read about it over at Head-Fi....only 4G iPods can be modded...
Figured this will take care of me for awhile until Apple comes out with 'real video iPods' (ie, larger than 2.5" displays...) and saved some $$ on initial costs this way...
Anyway, that's what I did....
