hi, ive got a 5th gen ipod video 60GB and yesturday it was working absolutley fine and today i wake up, plug it into my mac and it just has a black screen. i can see that it is on but nothing happens, the computer wont rcognise it and when i put it close to my ear i cant hear it running at all but i can see that the screen is on but all it is, is a black rectangle. does ani 1 no what i could do to get it working again.

Also i did put it near my surround sound so could the magnets of fried my hardrive or sumtin

You have to get pretty close to a magnet to damage the iPod. But it certainly is possible. The fact that you can't hear anything internally is not good...

what type of Mac do you have and what type of port is your iPod hooked up to. Is it USB 2.0 or 1.1 etc? I don't think your iPod is charging up thru your computer. USB 1.1 doesn't have enough power to charge sometimes.

You may need an external iPod charger ~$10. Borrow somebody's and try that.
