So I've waited a year for the ipod nano to get revamped...
I liked the previous nano's appearance, but I was paranoid about the scratching problem, so I was waiting until apple started using better plastic parts.
But, now they have totally new looking nanos. And I dont like em.
(The only one I can see myself using is the red one, but I still like the previous nanos better)
So my only option is to buy it from other stores, but I also wanted to have mine engraved.
Has anyone gotten their ipod engraved from Macmall?
How is the engraving compared to the Apple engraving? (Is it bigger? smaller? crappier?)
Or should I buy the new nano instead?

Macmall engraves iPods themselves, do they? I didn't know that.
In any case, I'd recommend getting the new model. The difference in battery life alone is pretty huge.

MacMall does not do their own engraving. They order it engraved from Apple, hence the longer shipping if you want it engraved. It takes about 2 weeks via standard mail to get your engraved 'Pod from them, much more than the normal week for non-engraved.

apple may corner the market in good looking computers, but a good jeweler can engrave almost anything. even an ipod.

True, but keep in mind that iPods are laser engraved, and I imagine that the average jeweler just uses an engraving tool that physically scratches the message into metal.

Thank you for all the replies.
Yes, the big thing (well at least for me) about apple's engraving was that it is done by laser.
I found this on the macmall website:
MacMall
and the engraving looks really ugly on it.
It looks like it was engraved by scratching the metal.
Hence, I thought they do their own engraving.
I was thinking about which nano I should buy, and I am weening down to the previous nano, instead of the new red one.
But then I noticed that I have a new problem....(i think i might make a new post)
Anyway, if there is anybody still out there with knowledge about the macmall engraving, please let me know.
And thanks again to all the people who replied
