I'm new to iPods, but not Mac's. I just bought the newest 5G 30 gig iPod and love it for playing podcasts while working my fortunately quiet construction job. But some of the podcasts I've downloaded from the iTunes store (free ones) simply kill the iPod when I try playing them. I'm on the road and away from my Mac so I can't see if any of them play within iTunes on my iMac.
I choose the podcast from the menu, hit the middle button to choose and play the podcast, and the iPod shuts down. This happens with just a few podcast series, not all of them. The ones that are killing it are all popular science podcasts, including the Berkeley Grokster series.
I can turn it right back on, and it seems to work normally otherwise. Other podcasts do no harm and play just fine. And I've not had this problem playing music.
This happens even when the battery is fully charged, and I can play non-problem podcasts for hours after restarting.
Is it me, my iPod, the podcasts or Apple?
