Hi
I just bought a new Ipod 30Go for my daughter. But I used it for the first time on my Macbook Intel while I was on Windows and now it says its system is Windows. It does work nicely on her Ibook G4, though, but I've read that the fact that it's windows might cause problems. Is there a way I can reset this Ipod to Mac or am I stuck ?
Also, and I apologize if there are threads dealing with this already (I found none but can't be sure) I'd like to know why when I uncheck "launch Itunes when Ipod is connected" (must be something like that in English, I'm using the French version) and check "operate manually"(see above) and click apply, the next time I open Itunes, these settings are gone ? I find that so annoying to have to reset the whole thing again and again each time. I'd really like to control the operation of the Ipod and prevent it from syncing on its own.

The only "problem" you'll run into is that to install any FIRMWARE updates (the "iPod software") on your new iPod you'll need to be running Windows. The hard drive is formatted in the FAT32 scheme, which both Windows and OS X can read and write.

Now if you want to change this, then plug the iPod into a Mac (running OS X) and let iTunes "restore" it. This will reformat the drive and wipe out your music, but you can just reload it and go from there.

Unfortunately, iTunes doesn't give you the iPod settings menu unless there's an iPod plugged in. But once you do plug the iPod in, your settings should stick. Is this not happening?
