Whenever I connect to my computer (Mac) itunes opens but the entire contets of the shuffle dissapears and I have to refill again from scratch.

Is there not a way of letting me add and delete songs from the shuffle once connected to my iMac?

you need to restore to factory setting first. then you will be asking checking or unchecking automatically download when you connect shuffle. simply uncheck, and continue to process next step. that's it. so now your shuffle is manually setting. you can drag, and drop whatever you want. if you want to use for saving document or other files, check enable disk mode.

no, it's not feature. it's bug. songs won't be empty or replaced until you push autofill button.
